Infrastructure projects for steam production units, demineralized water, air, wastewater treatment, nitrogen production, air compressors, and power supply at Esfahan Oil Refining Company were inaugurated with an investment of 60.5 trillion rials during the Fajr Decade.
The CEO of EORC, at the inauguration ceremony of these projects, stated that infrastructure units are of special importance because they become operational before other operational units are launched, and said: These infrastructure projects are considered necessary for the downstream units of the refinery.
Gholamreza Bagheri Dizaj stated: The RO/DM units’ projects with the current required capacity, the DO unit (hot oil extractor), gas removal and BFW pumps, B-4102 boiler with full capacity, oily and non-oily wastewater units, nitrogen production unit, remaining air compressors, and power supply to the KHT unit were put into operation at this ceremony.
He continued: From 2012 until this year, 98 projects have been defined at EORC with a budget of over 630 trillion rials and 3.4 billion euros, of which 57 projects have been completed, 27 projects are underway, 6 projects are being defined, and 8 projects are being carried out by the refinery’s subsidiary companies.
Bagheri Dizaj noted: The projects of EORC are defined in four portfolios: quality, energy, water, and process improvement, with the main objectives of implementing these projects being legal requirements, environmental issues, energy saving, and water crisis.
The CEO of EORC stated: Currently, 27 projects are underway in this company, employing about three thousand three hundred people, of whom 2,024 are directly employed and 1,227 are indirectly employed.
He continued: The units that were put into operation today are considered part of the utility and offsite units of the southern refinery, supplying the feed for the projects known as “DHT,” “RHU,” and “RFCC.”
Bagheri Dizaj said: 285,000 cubic meters of earthworks, 36,000 cubic meters of concrete pouring, 2,627 tons of steel framework, and 76,000 tons of mechanical equipment have been used.
He stated: “The purpose of establishing the steam production unit is to provide the steam required for the process and utility units of the southern refinery, and the demineralized water unit is also part of the quality improvement project portfolio of EORC, constructed on a 3.5-hectare land with the aim of producing demineralized water with high purity and a capacity of 1,157 cubic meters per hour for injection into the steam production boilers.
The CEO of EORC added: The purpose of establishing the air unit is to supply air for instrumentation and the plant, which has five three-stage centrifugal compressors and has been implemented on a land area of four thousand square meters, with a production capacity of 47,600 normal cubic meters of air per hour.
He stated: The wastewater treatment unit aims to treat sanitary and industrial wastewater from the southern refinery area and to bring the quality of the output water in accordance with environmental regulations for the purpose of reusing the water in utility and process units. This unit has been implemented on a land area of five hectares and has a treatment capacity of 570 cubic meters of wastewater per hour.
Bagheri Dizaj added: The nitrogen production unit is also considered one of the quality improvement projects of Isfahan Oil Refining Company, aimed at supplying the nitrogen required for the process and utility units and the offsite of the southern refinery. It has been implemented on a land area of 2.3 hectares and has a capacity of 2,400 normal cubic meters per hour.
