Rahbord Energy: Afshin Kiani, the CEO of the Persian Gulf Gas Refining Company, has elaborated on the latest status and quality of the implementation of the phase 2 project of this complex. He said Phase 2 of the Persian Gulf Hoveyzeh Gas Refining has now progressed by 88%. He noted that an addendum to the original contract has been signed with Khatam-al Anbiya Construction headquarters. He said the capital parts and all the equipment have been installed, but a series of piping, welding, electrical, and instrumentation works are yet to be done. He said according to the plan, the mechanical completion of the factory will be done by March 2025, and the launch of the project will begin after that.
Lack of feedstock has reduced the capacity of the first phase of Hoveyzeh gas refining by half
Kiani pointed to the problems the project is facing and said that currently there have been delays in supplying the project with the necessary feedstock. The delays have caused a reduction in the production of Phase 1 Complex, which is now working at 45% of its capacity.
He said that despite the fact that Phase 1 has the ability to receive 250 million cubic feet of gas per day, it only receives 130 million cubic feet of gas daily, which delays the laying of the pipeline and the installation of anti-humidity equipment. Based on this, it was decided to hand over two of the projects to Khatam-al Anbiya Construction headquarters to finish the projects quickly and finish phase 1 of the project.
The Hoveyzeh Gas Refinery Project is an environment-friendly project
The CEO of Hoveyzeh Gas Refining Company of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (PGPIC) added that with the complete launch and receipt of feed, in addition to the financial gains, environmental issues will also be solved since the project has been designed based on environment-friendly terms. He said this will be accomplished by collecting gas flares in seven fields that pollute the environment. He noted that gas flares will be transformed into 97,000 barrels of gas condensate, which will be sent to Bandar Imam Petrochemical. There, sulfur will get separated, which can be exported or used in agriculture. The light gas, called methane, will be injected into the national gas network.
Kiani also added that projects such as gas refining in the PGPIC are one of the valuable projects of the PGPIC. Such projects will help reduce environmental problems on the one hand and generate income for the holding itself. In addition, in the third stage, petrochemical feedstock will be supplied to Bandar Imam Petrochemical. Considering that Bandar Imam Petrochemical has the capacity to receive 220,000 barrels of feed per day, the Hoveyzeh Gas Refining Complex is capable of supplying 50% of that amount. He concluded by saying that the move will be a big leap in generating income.
