Rahbord Energy: Dr. Mohsen Ghadiri made the comments at the educational conference on environmental laws, regulations, and standards, which was held on the occasion of Environment Week, hosted by Isfahan Refinery. He said the holding is now moving ahead to fulfill its environmental and social responsibilities. He further noted that the company is aiming to become one of the top 500 companies in the world. For this purpose, he said, the company needs to heed environmental urgencies.
The CEO of Isfahan Petro Refinery Holding has stated that it has defined a €6.2bn euro project for the holding and said that the project is being developed with environmental permits in Bandar Abbas. The holding is now building a 120,000 barrel refinery there.
He said the Isfahan Petrorefinery Holding has defined 23 water projects. He noted that the company needs to move towards water consumption management. He further noted that 75% of water consumption has been reduced in the company. Ghadiri highlighted that the company is moving in the direction of not having any water waste.
He also noted that, based on protocols, greenhouse gas emissions must be controlled. He also noted that the kerosene refining project, which is in the final stages, will remove 40 tons of sulfur from the country’s atmosphere. He said the company is seeking to reduce the amount of sulfur produced in the company to below half a percent, which is a very big task.
Ghadiri stated that all the projects of Isfahan Refinery Holding were defined and implemented according to passive defense principles. He noted that the company supports knowledge-based companies, and 300 such firms and 10,000 young people are set to be employed by the company.
Ghadiri further added that sulfur management was one of the first enactments of the cabinet for the company. He also referred to the fact that 1000 tons of CO2 are produced daily. That amount, he said, poses no environmental problem, but we are trying to obtain the necessary permits to combine this with hydrogen, ethanol, and the value chain.
He highlighted the fact that Isfahan Refinery completely operates under environmental protection. He further said the units that must be removed from the 50-kilometer radius of the city will be transferred to Bandar Abbas.
Ghadiri emphasized that the company is trying to reach the 2050 environmental standards in the next few years. He noted that all the products of the Isfahan Refinery will be produced based on Euro 5. He also said the company is also trying to bring the furnaces at Isfahan Refinery to global standards.
It is worth mentioning that on the sidelines of the educational conference on environmental laws, regulations, and rules, a memorandum was signed between the General Administration of Environment of Isfahan Province and Isfahan Petrorefinery Holding in line with the social responsibilities of this industrial complex in the field of environmental protection.
