Kharg Petrochemical’s export revenue rose 127% from April to August 2026 to 18.07 trillion tomans, despite a decline in export volumes, as higher selling prices boosted the company’s income.
Export Sales Rebound in August
Kharg Petrochemical Company recorded a sharp rebound in export sales in August 2026, with sales volume rising to 58,057 tonnes, compared with just 3,217 tonnes in July. Monthly income also climbed to 3.66 trillion tomans, up from approximately 0.24 trillion tomans in July.
The company’s cumulative performance was also notable. Despite a decline in export volume from April to August 2026, Kharg Petrochemical more than doubled its export income to 18.07 trillion tomans, highlighting the significant impact of higher export selling prices on its rial-denominated income.
In August, Kharg Petrochemical sold 58,057 tonnes of products and recorded 36.58 trillion rials in income, equivalent to approximately 3.66 trillion tomans.
Compared with July, August represented a substantial recovery. Sales volume increased more than 18-fold, while monthly income rose more than 15-fold.
August 2026 Income: More Than Quadruples Year on Year
Kharg’s August performance also improved significantly compared with the same month of 2025.
Sales volume increased from 43,143 tonnes in August 2025 to 58,057 tonnes in August 2026, representing growth of approximately 34.6%.
Income, meanwhile, rose from approximately 0.84 trillion tomans to 3.66 trillion tomans, an increase of about 337%. August income was therefore more than 4.3 times higher than a year earlier.
The much faster growth in income than in sales volume indicates that higher export prices, alongside increased sales tonnage, were the main drivers of the sharp increase in monthly income.
Methanol Leads Kharg’s August Export Income
All of Kharg Petrochemical’s recorded August sales were generated in the export market, with methanol accounting for the largest share of income.
The company exported 40,477 tonnes of methanol during the month, generating approximately 2.21 trillion tomans in income. Methanol therefore accounted for about 60.5% of Kharg’s total August income.
Pentane plus, with approximately 0.70 trillion tomans, propane with 0.43 trillion tomans, and butane with about 0.32 trillion tomans followed in terms of export income.
The export selling price of methanol also increased substantially, rising from approximately 186.7 million rials per tonne in August 2025 to 546.3 million rials per tonne in August 2026. Combined with higher sales volume, the increase in price significantly boosted methanol income.
Up 127% From April through August 2026
Kharg’s cumulative results present a stronger picture.
From April through August 2026, the company exported a total of 242,474 tonnes of products and recorded 180.70 trillion rials in income, equivalent to approximately 18.07 trillion tomans.
During the same period of 2025, export income stood at approximately 7.97 trillion tomans. Kharg’s export income from April to August 2026 therefore increased by about 127%, more than doubling year on year.
This growth occurred despite a decline in export volume. Export tonnage From April through August 2026 fell from 363,804 tonnes in 2025 to 242,474 tonnes in 2026.
The figures indicate that the increase in cumulative income was driven primarily by higher export selling prices rather than increased sales volume.
More Diversified Income Mix Over from April to August 2026
Unlike August, when methanol accounted for more than 60% of monthly income, Kharg’s five-month export income was more diversified across several products.
Methanol remained the largest contributor, generating approximately 5.88 trillion tomans, or around one-third of total income from April to August 2026.
It was followed by butane at approximately 3.65 trillion tomans, sulfur at 3.08 trillion tomans, pentane plus at 3.05 trillion tomans, and propane at approximately 2.40 trillion tomans.
This product mix reduced the company’s reliance on a single product from April to August 2026, in contrast with the more concentrated income structure seen in August.
August 2026 Export Recovery Drives Monthly Performance
Kharg Petrochemical’s August results primarily reflect a strong recovery in export sales following the sharp decline recorded in July.
Sales of more than 58,000 tonnes and income of 3.66 trillion tomans marked a substantial improvement from the previous month.
On a five-month basis, export income exceeding 18 trillion tomans and 127% year-on-year growth represent significant improvements in the company’s income performance. At the same time, the decline in cumulative export volume indicates that a substantial part of the income increase remains linked to higher selling prices.
The trend in production and export volumes in the coming months will therefore be important in determining whether the current income growth can be sustained.
