Rahbord Energy: The supreme leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei designated 1402 Persian calendar year (2022-2023) as the year of “Inflation control and growth in production”.” Therefore Iranian craftsmen were pushed to do their best to increase production and help the country’s economic progress by using internal capabilities and capacities. But the current year’s (1403) designation as “surge in production through people’s participation” has doubled the responsibilities of big industries and companies because they have do take giant strides in line with knowledge-based economy, growth and prosperity. They now need to make the best use of people’s capacities. In this context and due to the importance of Isfahan Petrorefining Holding and its economic, cultural and social services, an interview has been organized with Dr. Mohsen Ghadiri, the CEO of Isfahan Petrorefining to ask him about the the activities of the holding and its ups and downs in the previous year.
?As the CEO of Isfahan Petrorefining Holding, what’s your message to the personnel and workers in the new year
First and foremost, I need to congratulate the current year, which has been named by the supreme leader as “surge in production through people’s participation”, to the big family of Isfahan Petrorefining holding. I hope that this year, which has coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, would be a year full of happiness and prosperity under the auspices of the Twelfth Imam (may God hasten his return). I need to thank all my colleagues who have strived for the greatness of the country. I also hope that my colleagues would do more than previous year in order to materialize the goals and targets of Isfahan Petrorefining Holding and realize our plans.
? Could you please tell us about the ups and downs of the oil sector last year and how did you manage to overcome the obstacles
I have always emphasized on the fact that there are no challenges in the managerial level. Management means solving the problems and offering solutions. Pressure has been put on the holding from outside but were prepared for it too Some challenges are related to the environment. We are solving those issues in coordination with the general governor’s office of Isfahan province. We believe anything is attainable through coordination and cooperation. We aim to realize the targeted plans of Isfahan refinery. All the logistical capacities of Isfahan province are at the service of Isfahan refinery. The refinery is considered a partner of the environment due to the activities it has done to protect the environment. Furthermore, by launching a 1000 megawatt power plant, good things will soon happen to the people of Isfahan and the whole country.
?What are the plans of Isfahan Petrorefining holding for the current year
.The current year is considered a turning point for Isfahan Petrorefining holding
We hope to see the company at its apex this year. The new site of Isfahan refinery would be operationalized in Bandar Abbas. Fiscal discipline plans will be implemented in order to help finish the projects. Furthermore, by implementing the “National Railroad Contract ” signed with Esfahan Steel company, 13,000 tons of railway for 83 kilometers of road will be produced so that we would be able to transfer 10mn tons of goods annually through the national rail network. In this way, the Isfahan refinery would be connected to the sea and its goods would be transported to other countries.
Furthermore, value chains of the refinery, including Kerosene Hydrotreatment unit (KHT) will be operationalized. Furthermore, we will be using the ETS Iranian control system in Badar Abbas. In order to boost the productivity of Isfahan refinery, we will launch the EPR system by June this year. We will also do the procedures, productivity and efficiency through SAP which will bring good happenings to the personnel here. We are determined to move along this path with a high aspiration to reach our goals.
?What are the plans of Isfahan Petrorefining in using knowledge-based companies in various sectors
We believe that the Mashal Pouya company as one of the big pillars of Isfahan Refinery needs to be put on the platform and developed. In order to expand this company, necessary advanced laboratory equipment have been bought. It will make the company a reference center and an equipment hub capable of producing other equipment for the oil industry, refineries etc. We are never satisfied with what we have achieved because we have bigger targets which must be realized. As the supreme leader has stated, we need to realize a growth rate of 8%. We have not reached that target yet and we are planning to do that.
Isfahan refinery must join 500 top companies in the world. By doing value chain projects in the company and making various products, we can witness more productivity.
?You place high value on young managers. What plans do you have to create innovative management in Isfahan refinery
We are a process-centered company and base out activities on engineering and industrial engineering sciences. Therefore, our productivity will increase by developing ERP software. We have also put on agenda training programs for managers. We are making up for the work not done in the previous. We are now training young innovative managers. Our approach in Isfahan Petrorefinery is based on using the capacities, motivations and audacity of young people along with the expertise of experienced ones. We have tried to increase the knowledge level of our staff and this approach is gender-blind. With our motto, dubbed “ Endeavour in Iran!”, we are moving forward.
