The Commander of the Economic Headquarters of the Defense Ministry Visits Shiraz Petrochemical

Brigadier-General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Commander of the Economic Headquarters of the Defense Ministry, and Amir Ahad Amiri, Deputy Economic Officer of the Armed Forces Social Security Organization, Mr. Seyyed Jafar Hashemi, the CEO of Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group, and the accompanying delegation have visited the country’s first petrochemical plant and met and held discussions with Mr. Babak Pourkia during a meeting. In this meeting, Najjar emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency and the development of domestic industries, especially in the petrochemical field. Referring to the significant achievements of the country’s petrochemical industry, he emphasized the need to maintain and promote these achievements and move towards complete self-sufficiency in the production of parts and equipment needed by these industries. Also, the importance of improving production processes, increasing productivity, and developing high value-added products in this industry was emphasized.

Another important point raised in this speech was the necessity of cooperation between different industries and attracting foreign investment to develop technology and improve the quality of petrochemical products. Referring to the successful experiences of the defense industries, Najjar emphasized the need to transfer these experiences to the petrochemical industry to achieve complete self-sufficiency. He also emphasized the importance of paying attention to environmental issues and the social responsibility of this industry.

In addition, Pourkia, head of Shiraz Petrochemical Company, while welcoming the guests, stated in his speech that despite its long history and challenges such as equipment erosion, Shiraz Petrochemical Company continues to produce sustainably. He said the company has achieved self-sufficiency in the production of ammonia and urea and is the second largest urea producer in the country. However, water shortages and the need to invest in equipment renovation are challenges facing this industry. New development plans are also being considered that can help increase production capacity and improve productivity.
