The Olefin, Utility Offsite and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) units of Bushehr Petrochemical Company were officially inaugurated and put into operation, coinciding with the auspicious days of the Fajr decade, during a ceremony and via video conference, by the decree of President, Dr. Masoud Pezzekian.
At this ceremony, Dr. Afshar Baziar, CEO of Shastan Commercial Investment Company, presented a comprehensive video report on the implementation process, capacities, and achievements of the Bushehr Petrochemical Project to the President. In this report, he referred to the project’s successful overcoming of technical, implementation, and financing challenges, and considered the launch of the olefin, offsite utility, and mono ethylene glycol units as a milestone in completing the petrochemical industry value chain and realizing the country’s major industrial development goals.
Baziar, emphasizing the key role of this project in increasing production capacity, creating added value, developing non-oil exports, and creating sustainable employment, appreciated the support of the government, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Petroleum, and the round-the-clock efforts of the specialists and employees of this complex, and considered Bushehr Petrochemical one of the leading and strategic projects of the Shastan Group and the country’s petrochemical industry.
Following this conference, Alireza Mahdavi, CEO of Bushehr Petrochemical Company, expressed his sincere gratitude for the support of the government, the Ministry of Defense, the National Petrochemical Industries Company, the Shastan Investment Group, the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization, and the officials of Bushehr Province, and expressed his gratitude for the valuable efforts and dedication of the managers, contractors, consultants, and employees of this complex, who worked around the clock to provide the basis for the realization of this national project.
He considered the operation of the olefin, offsite utility, and mono ethylene glycol units to be the result of synergy, empathy, and effective reliance on domestic expertise, and expressed hope that by continuing this path, Bushehr Petrochemical will play a more prominent role in the development of the petrochemical industry, economic growth, and creating sustainable added value for the country.
Mahdavi, appreciated the support and accompaniment of Dr. Baziar, CEO of Shastan Commercial Investment Company, and considered this effective support to be instrumental in the advancement, completion, and successful operation of the olefin, mono ethylene glycol, and offsite utility units, and emphasized that Shastan’s strategic support has paved the way for the realization of one of the most important national projects in the country’s petrochemical industry.
The Olefin Unit, as the beating heart of Bushehr Petrochemical, plays a pivotal role in supplying feedstock to downstream units by producing basic and strategic products. In addition, the Utility and Offsite Unit has provided the basis for the safe and continuous operation of process units by providing stable ancillary services and vital infrastructure. Also, the Mono Ethylene Glycol Unit will play an effective role in enhancing Iran’s position in regional and international markets by producing high value-added products.
This huge project, which was implemented on the coast of the Persian Gulf and in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, relying on the capabilities of domestic experts and utilizing modern technical knowledge, has today become a symbol of industrial self-confidence, sustainable development, and balanced regional progress.
The official operation of these units is an important step towards realizing the country’s macroeconomic policies, increasing production, earning foreign exchange, and strengthening the petrochemical industry’s value chain, and marks the beginning of a new chapter of sustainable production and value creation at Bushehr Petrochemical Company.
