The hybrid cooling project of Tabriz Petrochemical Company with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per hour is being implemented in the company with the aim of reducing water consumption and providing sustainable cooling water. This strategic project uses hybrid technology for the first time among the country’s petrochemical companies and is considered an important step in optimizing water consumption in the petrochemical industry and in East Azerbaijan Province.
This plan aims to provide a stable and uninterrupted supply of cooling water to the heavy polyethylene production unit without disrupting the ongoing production process, and is expected to play an effective role in increasing the reliability and operational efficiency of the complex.
According to the report, the progress of the project in the engineering section has reached 16.7% and in the implementation section about 11%, which indicates the regular progress of the design and implementation activities according to the determined schedule. In the construction section, the concreting of the pump basin and concrete except for all basins has been successfully completed, and the concreting of the floors of the first, second and third floors has been completed; thus, the project has entered the next stages of implementation.
The open hybrid cooling project, utilizing wet and dry combined technology, will increase cooling efficiency while significantly reducing water consumption compared to conventional systems. One of the most important achievements of this project is the saving of about 65% in annual water consumption compared to conventional wet cooling systems, which plays a significant role in the optimal management of water resources.
Hybrid cooling systems intelligently combine the advantages of both “dry” and “wet” systems, automatically switching between the two operating modes in different climatic conditions and using advanced sensors and controllers. In addition to reducing water consumption, this mechanism reduces environmental impact and maintains thermal efficiency throughout the year.
The implementation of this project is in line with Tabriz Petrochemical Company’s macro policies in the field of sustainable management of water resources and environmental protection. After operation, in addition to increasing the production reliability factor, it will make a significant contribution to preserving the water resources of East Azerbaijan Province and improving the operational sustainability of this complex.
