In this regard, the dimensions of the accident and the damages incurred are being assessed, and the results will be announced later. According to an informed source, urea production in this unit has been stopped since last week and the ammonia tanks have also been emptied in order to prevent widespread explosions.
It is worth noting that Shiraz Petrochemical Power Plant and Utility was attacked and hit by Israeli fighter jets in an attack carried out by Israel. This attack caused an emergency halt in production at Shiraz Petrochemical.
Shiraz Petrochemical Company produces urea, ammonia, and methanol, and accounts for 18% of the country’s urea production.
