CEO of Esfahan Oil Refining Company:

EORC’s attention to Environmental Issues and Focus on Producing Clean Products

Preliminary planning has also been carried out for the second phase, which is estimated to cost about 100 thousand billion tomans

The CEO of Esfahan Oil Refining Company In his speech before the Friday prayer sermons in this city, spoke about the effective role and special position of Esfahan Refinery in the country’s energy production. Gholamreza Bagheri Dizaj said during the 12-day war and in a situation where the country was engaged in physical war and also psychological turmoil, the employees of Esfahan Oil Refining Company, along with the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), stood by the production work with commitment and sacrifice. While protecting the vital and dangerous facilities of the refinery, they did not allow a fuel crisis to arise for the people. In fact, EORC, as the center of gravity of war management in the field of energy and its infrastructure, was able to act successfully.

The CEO of EORC referred to the energy infrastructure in the Esfahan refinery and supplying feed to downstream units such as petrochemical companies, Sepahan Oil, Jey Oil, as well as detergent manufacturing companies during the corona crisis. He said this company, which pays special attention to social responsibilities, is responsible for 22 to 25 percent of product production in the entire country. In this regard, 85 percent of the company’s products are fuel in nature and the remaining 15 percent is for industrial consumers. Also, the refinery is considered as one of the important taxpayers in the province by paying 6 thousand billion tomans of performance tax per year.

Referring to the investment and expenditure of hundreds of millions of dollars in the production of clean and environmentally friendly fuel at the Esfahan Refinery, Bagheri Dizaj said the country’s refining industries are sometimes subject to incorrect judgments on this issue. This is while at EORC, products are being produced with a special focus on quality improvement and based on specific prevailing standards, in such a way that the pollution coefficient of the products has decreased from 1.5 to 0.5, and this number will reach zero in the near future.

Bagheri Dizaj also said the production of fuel oil in itself is not polluting in any way, but this pollution occurs when this product is consumed and its consumer must purify it. Therefore, the Esfahan Refinery is not responsible for the pollution of fuel oil. Despite the fact that the production of this product is not polluting and has export and economic value, the Esfahan Refinery is moving towards eliminating the production of fuel oil.

The CEO of EORC pointed out the company’s role in creating green space and the environmental responsibilities of the complex and said creating about 120 hectares of green space and constructing an 1,150-hectare forest of almond trees are among the measures that can help eliminate pollution and clean the air.

Gholamreza Bagheri Dizaj referred to the plan to transfer water from the sea to the Esfahan refinery and the participation and investment of Esfahan’s large industries in this plan amounting to 35 thousand billion tomans. He said this plan was successfully implemented while in the first phase, 8 million cubic meters of water for the refinery’s consumption was supplied from the sea, and from now on, there is no need to use drinking water consumed in the Esfahan refinery’s processes. This will contribute significantly to preserving the province’s water resources. Preliminary planning has also been carried out for the second phase, which is estimated to cost about 100 thousand billion tomans

The CEO of Esfahan Oil Refining Company concluded his remarks by emphasizing that all Esfahan Refinery projects have focused on eliminating pollution and saving water consumption.

Hojjatoleslam Mahmoudi, the interim Friday Imam of Esfahan, also pointed out to the important role and position of the Esfahan Refinery in the production of oil products and products in the country. He said this complex produces about 25 percent of the country’s fuel and has taken important steps in the environmental field, especially in the water sector, which is commendable and shows the importance of the role of the Esfahan Oil Refining Company.
