Dr. Komeil Pourziaei, CEO of Khargh Petrochemical, on the sidelines of the company’s 1404 fiscal year general assembly, spoke with Rahbord Energy regarding the strategy that Iranian methanol petrochemical companies, including Khargh, should adopt to stabilize their markets, considering that China has become one of the world’s methanol production hubs and, in addition, the US has targeted China as its methanol export market. He stated: Our first strategic approach is to start downstream activities in the methanol chain. Therefore, Khargh Petrochemical is ahead and pioneer in this area compared to other petrochemicals, due to the conditions and facilities that have been anticipated on Khargh Island from previous periods, and is currently implementing the synthetic ethanol value chain development project.
Pourziaei added: The land for the synthetic ethanol project has been acquired, storage tanks have been constructed, and last year we completed the contractual and operational work for the license and process design engineering (PDP and basic). We currently have about 12 percent progress, and our forecast is to begin construction of this project by the end of the year.
