Fanavaran Petrochemical concentrates on fulfilling CSR in education and sustainable development

Fanavaran Petrochemical has been recognized as the country’s green industry for ten consecutive years and will continue on this path with strength

The CEO of Fanavaran Petrochemical company said: “ with the company’s direct funding we were able to build a school for skills training and empowerment in one of the most deprived areas of Mahshahr County.” Hossein Rafighdoost, CEO of Fanavaran Petrochemical Company, said at the opening ceremony of the company’s vocational art school in Mahshahr: “by providing direct company funding and cooperating with the School Renovation Organization, we were able to build a school with the best equipment in one of the most deprived parts of  Mahshahr so that local girls can pursue skills training and empowerment.”

 Referring to the company’s programs in the areas of environment and innovation, he added: “alongside building schools, Fanavaran played a role during the COVID period by equipping medical centers, carrying out road construction for deprived villages, and participating in environmental projects such as planting more than 70,000 mangrove trees.”

 Rafighdoost considered one of the company’s most important achievements to be the implementation of a hydrogen-fired boiler project as the first example in the country’s petrochemical industry and said: “this boiler, using flare gases and wastewater, produces 160,000 tons of steam annually, which, in addition to reducing costs, has a significant impact on lowering pollution.”

 The CEO of Fanavaran Petrochemical also referred to the CO2 project and explained: “with this technology, 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide are converted to methanol annually – a plan that is only carried out similarly in advanced countries.

He emphasized on Fanavaran’s strategic role in supplying feedstock to six petrochemical complexes and the country’s exclusive production of acetic acid and said: “even a one-day shutdown of this complex could cause problems for many of the country’s chemical and manufacturing industries; therefore, our efforts are focused on maintaining continuous production while simultaneously developing innovative projects and corporate social responsibilities.” Rafighdoost concluded by thanking the company’s employees who performed the largest turnaround of the methanol unit under the toughest climatic conditions and stated: “relying on committed and skilled human capital, Fanavaran Petrochemical has been recognized as the country’s green industry for ten consecutive years and will continue on this path with strength.”
