At the first international environmental congress “Green City, Green University,” held on the occasion of Tabriz being selected as the Asian Environmental Capital City for 2025, and attended by senior national officials, prominent international representatives, and senior provincial managers, Dr. Mirashrafi, CEO of Tabriz Petrochemical Company, was honored for his valuable efforts in environmental protection and the company’s practical actions towards sustainable development and water and wastewater resource management.
This appreciation was presented by Dr. Yaghoub Hoshyar, Mayor of Tabriz, and Dr. Mohammad Taghi Alami, President of Tabriz University. Engineer Gholami, HSE Manager of Tabriz Petrochemical, received the appreciation plaque and the Environmental Supporter statue on behalf of the CEO.
The plaque expressed gratitude for the prominent role of the CEO of Tabriz Petrochemical in environmental protection and taking effective steps towards sustainable development; a role that has not only enhanced environmental culture in society but also opened new horizons in achieving a “Green City,” “Green Economy,” and “Green University.” This valuable commitment is recognized in the plaque as a worthy model for activists in the field.
Tabriz Petrochemical Company has an active and influential presence at this international congress as well as the Green Technologies and Innovations Exhibition, which is held simultaneously at Tabriz University. This presence aims to introduce the company’s pioneering achievements in the field of green technologies, environmental programs, and process improvement projects.
It is worth noting that environmental protection is a fundamental principle at Tabriz Petrochemical. The company, by implementing and obtaining the ISO 14001 environmental management system certification and adopting a scientific and forward-looking approach, has always taken steps to reduce pollutants and improve the quality of the surrounding ecosystem, deserving the title “The Green Jewel of Iran’s Petrochemical Industry.”
Among the most important environmental projects of Tabriz Petrochemical Complex are the plan to transfer and use treated municipal wastewater from Tabriz’s treatment plant in the complex, construction of the wastewater and waste management unit, covering the ponds of the recovery unit and destruction of volatile organic compounds by the RTO method, installation and commissioning of the online chimney monitoring system, collection and destruction of pollutant gases from the ABS unit by the RTO method, installation and commissioning of the HP Flare flowmeter, construction of the pressure unloading and tanker venting platform, design and implementation of data logger software, design and implementation of the Waste Management System (WMS), and design of the Environmental Aspects and Impacts Management Software (EAMS).
