The CEO of Howeizeh Persian Gulf Gas Refining Company announced on Tuesday during his first visit to the second phase of the complex: the construction operations of this phase, provided timely financial resources and equipment are secured, can enter production by the end of 2025.
Javanshir Sadeghi said during this visit: “Phase two is designed to increase the refinery’s capacity and reduce the volume of flare gases from the West Karun fields. “
An action that, according to him, has a direct role in reducing flaring, preserving natural resources, and improving economic efficiency.
He added: “Associated petroleum gases that were previously flared will be converted into valuable products upon completion of this phase. This project, in addition to increasing production, helps reduce pollutant emissions and improve the air quality of the region. “
Sadeghi, referring to the new capacity created by this plan, explained: “After completion, the refinery’s capacity will reach 500 million cubic feet per day; a capacity nearly double the current level, which naturally leads to increased production of NGL and sulfur as well—achievements of this phase that can play a significant role in supplying feedstock for downstream industries. “
The CEO also, referring to similar experiences in other gas refineries in the country, said: Timely advancement of development projects can only be realized when there is sustainable financing and cohesive executive management; an approach that directly increases profitability and reduces environmental impacts.
He described the second phase of Howeizeh as “one of the strategic projects of the gas industry” and added: This project is not just an industrial development; rather, it is a commitment to the country’s energy future and the region’s environment. Its realization depends on the cooperation of supporting institutions, timely resource provision, and precise implementation of technical plans.
