CEO of Howeizeh Gas Refinery:

Howeizeh Gas Refinery: a key player in implementing PGPIC’s strategy to shut flare stacks in West Karun and Darkhovein

completing the transfer lines from Darkhovein and West Karun is a fundamental step toward increasing production resilience and implementing the flare‑shutdown policy.

Following continuous follow‑up and leadership by the CEO of Howeizeh Gas Refinery of Persian Gulf Holding, fuel‑feeding transfer projects from the Darkhovein and West Karun fields are progressing at an accelerated pace.

The head of Coordination and Production Supervision at the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Group, accompanied by the refinery’s CEO, inspected the latest status of these projects to review development progress and existing obstacles.

The visit aimed to monitor progress of the flare‑gas collection projects and remove operational challenges on the path to realizing the holding group’s strategic objectives. During the visit, Mr. Reza Safaei Naraghi, head of Coordination and Production Supervision of the holding, while thanking the Howeizeh Gas Refinery team for their efforts, stressed the importance of continued managerial follow‑up to complete the projects.

Afshin Kiani, the CEO of Howeizeh Gas Refinery , referring to the vital role of these projects in reliably supplying feedstock for petrochemical plants including Bandar Imam Petrochemical, said: completing the transfer lines from Darkhovein and West Karun is a fundamental step toward increasing production resilience and implementing the flare‑shutdown policy. All of the company’s execution capacities have been mobilized to advance this mission.

Regarding the West Karun gas collection project, it was announced that a contract for supplying 15 kilometers of pipe for this line has been signed with Ahvaz Pipe Manufacturing Company, and the project is expected to go into operation by June 2026.

Next, the progress of the Darkhovein pipeline project was reviewed and, according to experts, has made remarkable headway. The visit noted that by completing difficult crossings — including the sugarcane canal, Hosseiniyeh junction, and the railway — operations are proceeding at greater speed. With completion of this project by February 2026, roughly 40 million cubic feet of gas per day will be added to the feedstock capacity, and together the Darkhovein and West Karun projects will add 80 million cubic feet of new gas to the complex’s production capacity.
