The ceremony honoring National Export Day and Industry and Mining in Fars was held, and exemplary exporters of the province were appreciated. In this event, attended by the Secretary-General of the Iran Chamber of Industry, Mining and Trade, the General Governor of Fars province, and a group of officials from the province, Shiraz Petrochemical Company was awarded the statue and certificate of appreciation as the top exporter of Fars in 2025.
In a part of the certificate text signed by Hossein Ali Amiri, General Governor of Fars, addressed to the CEO of Shiraz Petrochemical Company, it reads: “Successful export is the result of correct decisions, perseverance on difficult paths, and commitment to quality and commercial credibility.” “Economic activists who take responsible and visionary steps in this field play a decisive role in introducing the production and commercial capabilities of Fars province at the national and international levels.”
According to the report, Shiraz Petrochemical, as the oldest petrochemical unit in Iran and the Middle East (established in 1963), plays a vital and strategic role in the country’s economic structure. This complex is not only a symbol of the beginning of the petrochemical industry in Iran but today is considered one of the main pillars of foreign currency earnings and food security. The key role of Shiraz Petrochemical in the country’s economy; food security and support for the agricultural sector. Shiraz Petrochemical is the main hub for the production of chemical fertilizers in Iran.
Products such as urea and ammonium nitrate produced in this complex are vital raw materials for soil enrichment and increasing agricultural product productivity. A significant portion of domestic farmers’ needs for nitrogen fertilizers is supplied by this company, preventing dependence on imports and the outflow of currency for providing agricultural inputs.
Foreign exchange earnings and non-oil exports Despite its long history, this company has significantly increased its export capacity by modernizing units (such as the operation of the Shohada Marvdasht unit in recent years). Shiraz Petrochemical is one of the top exporters of urea to global markets.
The foreign exchange earned from exporting these products is offered in the NIMA system and helps restore stability to the country’s monetary cycle. The annual production capacity of this complex exceeds 3 million tons of product, a large portion of which is destined for international markets.
Employment and regional development This complex plays an unparalleled role in the economy of Fars province and the southern country in direct employment, with more than 2,800 people employed in this complex. Additionally, thousands of jobs have been created in transportation, logistics services, maintenance and repairs, and downstream industries. The products of this company supply the feedstock for many small and medium industries (such as the production of plastics, resins, and specialty chemicals).
